Pope Francis writes, “The message [of the Gospel] that we proclaim always has a certain cultural dress, but we in the Church can sometimes fall into needless hallowing of our own culture, and thus show more fanaticism than true evangelizing zeal.”116 As you reflect on the history of your community or nation can you identify symptoms of fanaticism?

Does your culture encourage you to look down on other peoples, even to blame them for the problems of your nation? Think of the times when Jesus condemned this behavior.

Pope Francis writes, “Saint Therese of Lisieux invites us to practise the little way of love, not to miss out on a kind word, a smile or any small gesture which sows peace and friendship.”117 What can you do to implement the “little way of love” today? At home? At work?
